Packing for your private hospital detox stay
What you pack can make a significant difference to your comfort and sense of security during your stay.
Comfortable clothing: Bring loose and comfy clothes that are suitable for relaxation and light activities. It’s a good idea to pack clothing that can be layered as it is normal for body temperatures to fluctuate during detox.
Hygiene care: Make sure to pack your toiletries such as your toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, roll on deodorant, or any other products you regularly use. Make sure that any mouthwash you bring with you is alcohol free. Don’t forget your nail clippers and hair brush too.
Medication: If you have any prescribed medications please bring them, along with your doctor’s instructions. The hospital staff will review and manage your medication during your stay.
Important info: Bring your important documents like your ID, health insurance information, as well as any other relevant medical documents.
Comfort items: Something like a blanket or a soft toy that is familiar to you can provide comfort and help you feel at ease. Personal photos, stationary, and appropriate books (self-care, spiritual, etc. – up to the Program Facilitator’s discretion) are also good things to bring to create a nice space for yourself.
Starting detox is the first step toward reclaiming your life. Although you might feel uncertain or even scared – which is normal, take comfort knowing that you are making a powerful decision for yourself and your future.
